Why did we make the Scorpion and Scorpion v2 lights?
There were a million lights, and none of them met our needs. They were bulky, expensive, flimsy, unintuitive and frustrating. We knew we could do better and so we decided to make a light that met the needs of the many at an affordable price.
What makes the Scorpion stand out?
Flexibility, portability, and speed. Made from beautiful machine anodised aluminium the Scorpion is the full package, well organised and easily transportable, it provides a lighting set up that can be rigged nearly anywhere in a matter of seconds. When this is combined with an innovative gooseneck design and versatile barndoors it makes the perfect light when time and space are tight. Once experienced in action it's a set up you'll find hard to do without.
Why are we updating the Scorpion to Sporpion v2.0 now?
You (our Kickstarter backers) brought Blind Spot Gear and the Scorpion to life four years ago. As incredible a product as the original was, we have learned a lot since. From experience gained and feedback received we knew we could make this core product even better.
What are you getting?
A brand new lens design and LED makes the new Scorpion Light 30% brighter, 2400 lux at a meter, while also proving an increased colour quality which, with a TLCI score of 94, it easily competes with industry leading lights. Ultimate flexibility, we've made huge improvements to the Scorpion's Gooseneck. Made from an improved brass/steel materials the neck is now thicker and 20% shorter providing more stability. We are keeping the 16mm spigot and 1/4 20 thread to give you a lighting set up that can be easily attached to almost anything. Increased portability, we know how frustrating and time-consuming transporting and setting up lighting rigs can be. With years of experience under our belts we have refined the organisation of both the Duo and Quad cases to provide a more intelligent, compact package.
